“Such supplies like old missile parts have a tendency to go ‘missing’ as commercially motivated elements meet the demand from countries like North Korea,” Mr. Park said. Such concerns appeared to be borne out when analysts suggested that the 16-wheeled vehicles that carried the missiles in the April 15 parade apparently originated from a state-run Chinese company.” —New North Korean Missile Is Called Into Question - NYTimes.com

“Still, if there was one thing to focus on last night, it was Varys’s lesson wrapped in a riddle wrapped in an enigma wrapped in an Emmy-submission monologue. “Power resides where men believe it resides,” he purrs. “It’s a trick. A shadow on the wall. And a very small man can cast a very large shadow.” The man in question is sitting across from him and, in fact, does not meet the minimum height requirements for most of the rides over at Six Flags: Seven Kingdoms.” —Game of Thrones, Season 2, Episode 3: ‘What Is Dead May Never Die’ - Hollywood Prospectus Blog - Grantland

This month Skillshare is looking for some design supremos to teach during our upcoming Design Semester in San Francisco and New York City.

We looked around and realized that the landscape of design classes both in our hometown (NYC) and our lovely sister city (San Francisco) is pretty…

Thinking I might volunteer to teach “The Future of Design Founders (Course)”. What do you think?

“I have no particular beef with this terrible band, although I strongly believe that grown men who have walk-in closets devoted to Star Wars toy collections should be forbidden to express themselves in public.” —Wasted Life - Fun. Is No Fun | VICE

“Branch, a startup created by Princeton dropout Josh Miller, has raised a big seed round of financing from SV Angel and others.
A source close to the company says the amount is $2 million.
Other investors include Lerer Ventures, Rick Webb, Lucas Nelson, Ryan Freitas, and David Tisch.”

Branch: Raised $2 Million From SV Angel Lerer Ventures And Others

I haven’t written much yet about Branch. I am super excited to be a part of it, and it has been amazing watching this awesome company come together.

Branch used to be called Roundtable, but they have changed their name to a much more evocative and better name, though I loved the descriptive nature of “Roundtable.”

Because that’s what Branch is all about. Think about a SXSW panel. Think about 5 experts talking about a topic that they are all passionate about. Think about them talking intelligently, saying really great stuff. It’s sorta like Quora, but moderated, and with everyone answering the question an expert. It’s a moderated discussion by experts, with the community weighing in.

I can see a million applications for it in the long run, and I think it could be really huge. Whenever i see three or four really smart people chatting about a topic on Twitter, with a million @ replies bouncing back and forth, I think how great it would be if those people hopped over to Branch, and that’s what I hope to see more of in the future.

I met Josh and his gang when they were here in New York, before they did their stint in SF, since Biz and Ev of Twitter fame lead the round with their new vehicle, Obvious. But as Branch realized they could be more of a media company, they decided to come on back to New York, and I am ridiculously excited to have them back and to be a part of this.

I’ve been meaning to start a Branch but I am still trying to figure out the perfect topic. If you have any suggestions, let me know.

Echoing Rick, I’m excited to be a part of Branch’s continued evolution. And while I’m sad to see them depart SF for NYC, it is the best choice for them long term. It also has some interesting side effects, chiefly that I’ll have a desk in their space once they settle in.
